Get Millions By Marriage Follow-up

March 11th, 2008

Last week, I wrote about Bravo’s The Millionaire Matchmaker. It looks like the season is over. While I didn’t catch an episode, I did catch this report on the ending.

I wanted to highlight a two minute clip available here. The rich bachelor ended up proposing. She gave a pretty mediocre “maybe”, which was justified considering that they only knew each other for 24 hours. Then she goes on for about two minutes explaining the maybe decision approximately 743 different ways. The beauty is the last 25 seconds or so. I’ll transcribe her words for you:

I told him that “If you’re serious, I’d need some kind of verification, some time of ring… symbol of an engagement” and he obviously didn’t have one cause I assume he wasn’t expecting to do this. So he gave me… I think this is his fraternity ring. But obviously this won’t do unless its 4 to 5 carats… I’d expect an upgrade.

Well that certainly clears things up doesn’t it?

Million Dollar Baby Pictures

March 5th, 2008

One of the great things about being famous is that you can often print your own money. Sometimes you don’t even need to be that famous or do anything significant. It seems that People magazine may have paid over a million dollars for pictures of Nicole Ritchie’s Baby.

I find this pretty absurd. Paris Hilton at least has some celebrity power. I don’t know about you, but I think of Nicole Ritchie as Paris’ friend or ex-friend depending on the time-line. I guess we’ve reached the point where friends of famous people who do nothing are getting paid millions.

It’s another case of it not being what you know, but who you know.

Become a Millionaire by Marrying Rich

March 3rd, 2008

I found this New York Daily News article about The Millionaire Matchmaker show on Bravo. The concept is simple… hot women who want money are set up dates with rich guys. I think a lot of America would hate this idea, but a lot of America would still tune to watch - if it wasn’t on Bravo.

The show is pretty open with it’s controversy. Matchmaker Patti Stanger says:

I have to diagnose their illness and find out why they’re still single with all their money and looks

That’s some “illness” there. I’d say that they are probably a little shy and maybe might not have the time to meet single women while they are earning all that money.

Here’s another interesting quote from the article:

There’s one important rule Stanger has for women. “You are not allowed to gold dig,” she says. “We will screen for that. I can spot them from 5 miles away, going, ‘How many cars does he have? How many homes does he have?’”

So let’s back the truck up. Women can sign to join this service where men are certified millionaires, but they aren’t allowed to ask about the money. It seems like that’s the one question that’s already answered for them.

I really don’t see what’s in it for the guys here. They have the money and the looks according to Stanger’s earlier quote. So the women are just bringing looks to the table. It looks to me like gender equality just took a big step backwards.

Become a Millionaire by Gambling

February 27th, 2008

I noticed an interesting story this week. A person in England has gambled 50p to $1 million at the horse races. It was great 60th birthday for Fred Craggs who won it all by predicting the winner of 8 horse races. The first horse was called, “Isn’t that Lucky?” and the last was “A Dream Come True.”

I don’t know if gambling your way to million dollars is the smartest of all plans. I suppose you could go to the roulette wheel and hope to predict a few numbers in a row. I tend to think you won’t do very well, but your odds will still be better than playing the lottery.

Welcome

February 26th, 2008

Hello, I’m Money Millionaire and welcome to my site. I’m not a millionaire and I don’t have a lot of money. The goal of this site is to make money and become millionaires.

How are we going to become millionaire?
I believe the key to improving yourself in anyway starts with education. Together we will learn the habits that millionaires and try to figure out how they got there. Will we be successful? That remains to be seen.

There must be more than learning, right?
You are right. Learning is nothing without implementation. When I have a good idea on how to make a million dollars and it’s not a lot of work, I’m going to give it a try. However, since nothing comes free, we’ll likely go slow way.

What’s up with the name Money Millionaire?
I don’t really like to put my real name out on the Internet. If my employer were to find this out, perhaps they’d fire me because I don’t want to spend my whole career with them. I plan on making a million and then looking for the next thing that I want to do with my life. Thus I simply go by Money Millionaire.
